Background

Quesnel Lake supports a recreational fishery for large Bull Trout, Lake Trout and Rainbow Trout. To provide information on the natural and fishing mortality, trout were caught by angling and tagged with acoustic transmitters and/or reward tags.

Thorley, J.L. and Dalgarno, S. (2019) Curtis and Qua Creeks Productivity Analysis 2018. A Poisson Consulting Analysis Report. URL: https://www.poissonconsulting.ca/f/1060059151.

Background

Invertebrate and fish data were collected from Curtis and Qua Creeks from 2015 to 2017, water chemistry data were collected from 2015 to 2018, and periphyton data were collected in 2015, 2016 and 2018 to assess their productivity. The fish data were collected by depletion electrofishing.

Lower Columbia River Rainbow Trout Spawning Analysis 2018

Thorley, J.L. and Dalgarno, S. (2018) Lower Columbia River Rainbow Trout Spawning Analysis 2018. A Poisson Consulting Analysis Report. URL: https://www.poissonconsulting.ca/f/934446658.

Background

Each spring in the Lower Columbia River (LCR) below the Hugh L. Keenleyside Dam (HLK) and in the Lower Kootenay River (LKR) below the Brilliant Dam, thousands of Rainbow Trout spawn. Since 1992, BC Hydro has stabilized the spring discharge releases from HLK to protect Rainbow Trout redds from dewatering.

Background

Rainbow Trout rear in the Lardeau and Lower Duncan rivers. Since 2006 (with the exception of 2015) annual spring snorkel surveys have been conducted to estimate the abundance and distribution of age-1 Rainbow Trout. From 2006 to 2010 the surveys were conducted at fixed index sites. Since 2011 fish observations have been mapped to the river based on their spatial coordinates as recorded by GPS.

Background

In the mid 1990s BC Hydro began operating Hugh L. Keenleyside (HLK) Dam to reduce dewatering of Mountain Whitefish and Rainbow Trout eggs.
